Jet loom weft yarn preparation

To prepare weft yarns for use in a jet loom, especially filament wefts yarns, the yarn (2) is eddied by a pneumatic fluid after it is drawn from the supply bobbin and before it reaches the intermediate weft store. Also claimed is an assembly with an eddy unit (4) between the supply bobbin (1) and intermediate store (3). A control (6) has a command signal link to the pressure control unit (7) at the pressure supply (10). Preferably the eddy action is set according to the operation of the intermediate yarn store (3), with one operating function as the speed of yarn (2) take-off from the bobbin (1), and the functional readiness of the intermediate store (3) as a second operating function. The eddy action is continuous, to tangle the filaments of the yarn, by a controlled pneumatic fluid pressure. The pressure control (7) is a proportional pressure control valve (7a) with an integrated pressure converter (7b). The switching action of the eddy unit (4) is set according to the operating functions of the intermediate weft yarn store (3).
