A grip housing (10) has at least one built-in switch 914) operated from outside the housing. The housing is made from a rigid material, preferably a plastic, and at least in the region of one or more recesses (17) for the switch(es) is provided with a coating (21) of soft elastic plastic. The soft elastic coating is provided with a thickened operating dome (23) in the region of each recess (17) whose inner end is connected with a switch operating element (18). Between the operating dome and the region of the coating surrounding the recess is a thin-walled transition region. The housing consists of at least two shells meeting in a separating plane and the soft elastic coating of the one shell forms a sealing lip for the other shell.
