PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a heat developing recording material having high sensitivity and Dmax by making the heat developing recording material contain an org. silver salt, a reducing agent and a specified compd. SOLUTION: In the heat developing recording material having at least one image forming layer, the recording material contains an org. silver salt, a reducing agent and a compd. expressed by the formula. In the formula, X is a hydrogen atom or univalent substituent, Y is a univalent substituent which can be substituted in a benzene ring, Z is -C(=O)- or -SO2 -, and m is an integer 0 to 4. When m is an integer >=2, plural Y may be same or different. The compd. may be added to layers formed in the image forming layer side of the supporting body, namely to the image forming layer or other binder layers, and preferably added to the image forming layer or a binder layer adjacent to the image forming layer. The add amt. is preferably 1×10<-6> to 1 mol to 1 mol of silver, and more preferably 1×10<-5> to 5×10<-1> mol, and most preferably 2×10<-5> to 1×10<-1> mol.
