A device in a cylinder head for a combustion engine incorporates at least one exhaust valve (4) in an exhaust duct (5), and a recirculation line (9) for recirculating exhaust gases back to the engine's inlet system. One end (12) of the recirculation line (9) is situated adjacent to the exhaust valve (4) and is closable there by the exhaust valve, and the exhaust valve (4) is arranged to open the recirculation line (9) before opening the exhaust duct (5), so that the pressure in the cylinder (2) during the latter's expansion stroke can be used for exhaust gas transfer to the engine's inlet system. The device makes it possible for exhaust gases to be fed back to the engine's inlet even in cases where the engine is supercharged and the pressure in the engine's inlet system is normally higher than the pressure in the exhaust system, without requiring special pressure increasing devices. |
