PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high speed unwinding means in a driving mechanism for the reel base transporting a magnetic tape by reducing the rotational load exerted on the supply reel base when the magnetic tape is fast forwarded in the reverse direction. SOLUTION: An engaging part 18a of a pinch-roller arm 18 and a turning arm 16 are provided when the magnetic tape is fast forwarded in the reverse direction, then the rotational load to the supply reel base 14 is reduced by such a manner that an engaging part 16a of the turning arm 16 is pressurized by the engaging part 18a of the pinch-roller arm 18 and a 2nd relaying gear 10 is turned to separate off a load gear 9 and the 2nd relaying gear 10.
