Liquid petroleum gas container (10) has orifice (12) which receives body (100) of a release unit. Detector (200) of ambient condition such as temperature is located in outer ring (132) of body and is able to ignite explosive charge (300) on sensing excessive temperature. Explosion actuates piston (402) with beveled spike (406) which perforates release unit base (124) allowing gas to escape through diffuser (500).
