The method involves storing at least one response document (A) in a memory (DS) of a first apparatus device (F1) in the form of image data. When a document transmitted by a second facsimile apparatus (F2) is received an identity number for the second apparatus is received and placed in a number memory (RS) in the first apparatus. After closing the connection for transmitting the facsimile document, a new connection is set up by the first apparatus to the second apparatus using the received number and the image data corresponding to the one or more response documents are transferred over the new connection.
