A printing ink carrier (2) is introduced into a drying device by a discontinuously driven transport belt (1). Over the transport belt in the drying device is a drier hood (3) provided with several blow-out nozzles (4) activated by a hot air current. For the inward and outward feed of the printing ink carrier the blow-out air current is reduced to a residual level, but during the drying cycle is raised to a maximum level.
