PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To excellently suppress a fixed pattern noise at high speed by successively transmitting the pixel signal and the reference signal of each vertical signal line to a plurality of horizontal signal lines by making them a pair, selectively fetches a pair signal including the pixel signal and the reference signal from each horizontal signal line to one common signal line and obtaining the differential signal between the pixel signal and the reference signal in the pair signal. SOLUTION: Since the differential signal VSH is the difference between the pixel signal and the reference signal, it becomes a signal where FNP peculiar to a transmission line is suppressed even when it is a signal transmitted by way of any amplifier 155 or by way of any horizontal signal line. Although two-line reading is conducted, a CDS operation in the same way as that of one-line reading is enabled so that not only the scatter of the signals between the amplifiers 155 but also the scatter of the signals between the two horizontal lines are removed. Besides, an advantage that high-speed driving is facilitated is obtained. The amplifiers 155 are arranged at every vertical signal line.
