PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a convenient self-photographing mode without consuming the battery of a camera. SOLUTION: This camera is provided with an electronic image pickup device provided with an area sensor 64 for converting a subject image into an electrical signal and an LCD monitor 38 displaying an image signal outputted from the sensor 64, and a silver salt photographing device imprinting the subject image on silver salt film 46. Interlocked with exposing operation to the film 46 by the silver salt photographing device, image pickup operation by the sensor 64 is executed. When the camera is set in the self-photographing mode by operating a self-photographing mode setting switch 62, image pickup by the sensor 46 and displaying the picked-up image on the monitor 38 are repeated as long as the camera is set in the self-photographing mode.
