PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small-sized image input device with high economy that detects an image pickup displacement between a preceding partial image and a present partial image with a simple configuration so as to calculate the overlapped amount between the partial image thereby properly ensuring the overlapped amount of the partial images required for synthesizing them. SOLUTION: The image input device that allows an image pickup body to contactlessly optically scan an object nearly in parallel, sequentially captures an image on the object as partial images being divisions of the image and synthesizes them into one image, is provided with a relative position detection section 30 that detects the relative displacement or displacement speed of the image pickup body between a preceding input time of the preceding partial image and a present input time of the present partial image, an overlapping amount calculation section 31 that calculates the overlapped amount between the preceding partial image and the present partial image, and an image recording decision section 32 that decides the propriety of recording of the present partial image depending on the overlapped amount calculated by the overlapping amount calculation section 31. |
