PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To minimize an cost increase of a paper feeder, allow dust or the like to be hardly accumulated on the butt section of a cam on a flapper, and improve the lift mechanism of the flapper in the paper feeder provided with the flapper mounted with a plurality of sheets of paper, a pickup roller picking the paper mounted on the flapper starting from the uppermost paper in sequence, an exciting means exciting the flapper upward, and a cam mechanism separating or contacting the flapper and the pickup roller. SOLUTION: The cam mechanism comprises the cam 14 fitted to the rotary fulcrum shaft 13a of the pickup roller 13 and a shaft 15 protruded on the flapper 11. It is effective when the shaft 15 is formed into a cylindrical shape.
