PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal head capable of obtaining good heat accumulation properties, capable of well performing recording at a low voltage and extended in life. SOLUTION: A plurality of hermetically closed spaces 11 corresponding to each heating element 4 are formed to the back part of the heating element 4 and brought to a vacuum state to prevent not only the transmission of heat through the hermetically closed spaces 11 but also the oxidation of the heating element 4 at the regions facing to the hermetically closed spaces 11.
