MOLD CLAMPING UNIT AND METHOD FOR CLAMPING MOLD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that a torque opposing a platen maintaining torque is applied to a servo motor and the motor is overloaded when a pressure at a mold clamping time is transmitted in a state in which a platen position is maintained by the motor. SOLUTION: Upper and lower tables are vertically moved under a position control of the servo motor and a load of the motor is held so as not to overload the motor. The mold is clamped by a hydraulic cylinder while the upper and lower tables are coupling by a coupling member independent from a constitution for vertically moving the upper and lower tables by the motor at the mold clamping time needing a high pressure. Accordingly, the motor does not generate an output against a mold clamping pressure. The motor control can be realized under the simple control of a positional control, a torque control or the like. Thus, the motor can be reduced in size, and the clamping unit capable of being realized at a low cost can be provided.
