PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely start a stepping motor in a relatively short time, in the drive of the stepping motor by two-phase excitation system. SOLUTION: First excitation is performed in a first excitation state of A phase and B phase in a first time (T11 or T21) before the start of acceleration of the stepping motor. Next, second excitation is performed in a second excitation state of A phase and B phase corresponding to the next position in its rotational direction from the excitational position of first pre-excitation for the first time or a second time (T12 or T22) over it. Then, the output of the A phase and the B phase is generated to generate both a first rotating field and a second rotating field with its phase slid so as to accelerate it in the above rotational direction.
