PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the gathering and accumulation of air bubbles in a recording head, a subtank, etc. by extinction of air bubbles existing in an ink channel, without reference to the characteristics of ink, in an inkjet recording apparatus. SOLUTION: The driving of a subpump 803 makes the ink flow into the subtank 804 from an ink cartridge 800, and an ink flow rate in this flow is set to be a flow rate determined according to a detected environmental temperature (S703). When a flow ratio is set at 1 in the case where the environmental temperature is in the range of 15-30°C, a flow ratio is set at 0.5 in the case where the environmental temperature is less than 15°C. In this way, control for decreasing the flow rate is performed at a relatively low temperature. Thus, a flow velocity of the ink to be supplied is made lower by decreasing the flow rate, and a time required until the air bubbles in the ink reach the subtank can be made longer. Consequently, even if the environmental temperature is made low and the time required for the extinction of the air bubbles is made longer, the air bubbles can extinguish before they reach the subtank 804.
