摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus and method which can realize low power consumption, while maintaining photographing response in a low power consumption mode for stopping a screen display, reduce power consumption of an imaging element by driving a CCD at a slow clock, realize quick response by continuously executing photometry, and reduce power consumption by stopping image processing of an image processing unit and operation of a display device. SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus is provided with an analog image processing means, including a solid-state imaging element, a timing generator for driving the imaging element, and an A/D converter; a photometric means for extracting the luminance value to be used for AE from a digital image signal; a digital image signal processing means; an image display means for displaying image; and a clock generating means for supplying clocks to the imaging element, the analog image processing means and the image processing means.
