<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid a discrepancy in a bill to which the payment is not made when accounting data are corrected. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A medical accounting device makes accounting processing in a visit-to-hospital unit, calculates an uncollected amount of this time by subtracting an collected amount and a collected amount of this time from the total of an amount to be charged this time and accumulated uncollected amount, and then stores the uncollected amount of this time in an accounting data file. When determining that a visit to the hospital is made after the date of the visit of this time and the accumulated uncollected amount becomes zero after the date, the medical accounting device outputs and displays a message that the uncollected amount is settled according to an operator's registration and instructions when the accounting data are corrected.
