A hexagonal boron nitride powder containing an aggregate of hexagonal boron nitride primary particles, wherein the proportion of powder which passes through a sieve having a 45μm aperture is 80 mass% or more, the primary particle diameter is 5μm or less, the BET specific surface area is 15-25 m2/g, and the 50% volume cumulative diameter D50 is 10-15μm. Also, a method for producing the hexagonal boron nitride powder, and a resin composition and resin sheet using the hexagonal boron nitride powder.
