TWO-STAGE SWITCH FOR CORDLESS HAND-HELD ULTRASONIC CAUTERY CUTTING DEVICE A surgical device assembly (2000), comprising: a vessel-sealing ultrasonic end effector (2504) having opposing surfaces engaging tissue when disposed therebetween; a surgical device handle connected to the ultrasonic end effector (2504); a first plurality of contacts formed on an exposed surface of the surgical device handle; a self-contained power supply (2002) including a second plurality of contacts formed on an exposed surface of the self-contained power supply (2002), the surgical device handle and the self-contained power supply (2002) configured for mating engagement such that the first and second plurality of contacts are also in mating engagement; and a switch (4736) including: a switch-actuation direction in which the switch (4736) actuates; an unactuated position at a rest point of the switch (4736); a first actuated position at a first distance from the rest point in the switch-actuation direction; and a second actuated position at a second distance further from the rest point in the switch-actuation direction than the first distance, wherein a force required to sustain the first actuated position is less than a force required to enter the second actuated position, wherein in at least one of the first actuated position or second actuated position energy is delivered from the self-contained power supply (2002) to drive the ultrasonic end effector (2504).
