Designed for yarns composed of synthetic fibres, the recessed plates are mounted on rotating shafts so that their recesses face in opposite directions. The yarn is passed through by reciprocating yarn guides so that it is brought into angular contact with the lips of the rotating plates, in an alternating action to impose the false twist. The purpose is to provide a simple construction, without bearing problems, and without incurring excessive yarn tension or yarn damage.
