<p>A stack of rectangular plastic container is placed in a support frame (54), in order to unstack the containers (30) by removing the lowest one from the stack. The top edges of the tapered container walls are provided with a flange which is used to prise the stacked containers apart. A vertical shaft (3, 6) at each corner is provided with radial segment (27, 28) with which the container flanges are engaged. The shaft segments have axial cam profiles which when the four shafts are rotated through about 90 deg., force the gap between the lowest and the following container flange apart. Thus the lowest container is separated from the stack which allows the stack to be lowered in order to repeat the operation.</p> |
