PURPOSE:To improve a counting rate by supplying the output signal of a photoelectron multiplier tube to integrating circuits in parallel and integrating the signal in order at different times. CONSTITUTION:The signal from the photoelectron multiplier tube is inputted to integrating circuits 1 and 2 in parallel and the circuit 1 starts integrating operation at the leading edge of the input signal to integrate the former half part of the input signal. The circuit 2, on the other hand, starts integrating operation on the end of the integrating operation of the circuit 1 to integrate the latter half part. The integral output of the circuit 1 is sampled and held 3 during the integrating operation for the latter half part by the circuit 2 and the circuit 1 is reset at the end of holding operation. Therefore, a circuit 3 holds the integral output of the circuit 1, namely, the output corresponding to the area of the former half part of the input signal waveform and sends it to an adding circuit 5. A time adjustment between two integrating circuit outputs is made to perform addition while the time relation between both of them is made coincident, and consequently the addition output is the integral output of the input signal throughout the time. Thus, the integral output of the former half part is read out during the integration of the latter half part to shorten the dead time, thereby improving the counting rate.
