NITRIDE BASED COMPOUND SEMICONDUCTOR LIGHT EMITTING ELEMENT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly reliable white color or multicolor gallium nitride based compound semiconductor light emitting element exhibiting excellent mass productivity in which the light emitting element itself can convert the emission wavelength into a different wavelength. SOLUTION: The nitride based compound semiconductor light emitting element comprises a fluorescent material layer formed in a multilayer constituting the light emitting element. Furthermore, a high reflection layer is formed on the side face of the element, thus obtaining a nitride based compound semiconductor light emitting element in which the light emitting element itself can convert the emission wavelength into a different wavelength.
