PURPOSE:To provide a thermal transfer recording medium applying sharp and inexpensive thermal transfer recording of high image quality to a smooth plastic sheet. CONSTITUTION:A thermal transfer recording medium is obtained by providing an ink layer on a base material. The ink layer contains a first binder resin composed of a resin selected from the group consisting of a polystyrene resin, an ethylene/vinyl acetate copolymer, a vinyl chloride/vinyl acetate copolymer and an ethylene/acrylate copolymer or a mixture of two or more kinds of resins selected from the above group, a second binder resin composed of a resin selected from the group consisting of a polyester resin, a polyether resin, a polyamide resin and a urethane modified lanolin resin or a mixture of two or more kinds of resins selected from the above group and a coloring agent and is characterized in that the sum total a+b of the contents of the first and second binder resins is 30-70wt.%, the coloring agent is 70-30wt.% and the ratio a/b of the content (b) of the second binder resin to the content (a) of the first binder resin is 0.1-10. |
