A storage installation of long profiled of length 2-10 m or more holds a series of elongated storage cassettes within a rectangular frame. The storage cassettes are held on a series of step-shaped sub-frames (5), each supported top and bottom by wheels running back and forth on rails (6,7) within the frame.
