<p>The invention is based on the problem how to provide a concept of an assembly for surge protection, particularly for effective protection due to flashes of lightning, which should not have significant dimensions or would require the least of space. Apart from other advantages such assembly should even in cases of extreme loads provide the possibility of identifying damage to varistors (17) on time and preventing short-circuit currents running through the damaged varistors (17). With the assembly for surge protection due to flashes of lightning there is inside the chassis (1), apart from one gas arrestor (16) and a varistor (17), a connecting mechanism (15) which is electrically connected to the arrestor and the varistor, adapted for snap-on mounting to standard rails. The chassis (1), which on its front side (12) features at least one indication window (13), holds at least one assembly (17'') of at least two electrically connected rectangular varistors (17) with relatively large contact surfaces (170). Each of the varistors (17) includes a contact panel (171', 171'') for the interaction with the disconnection mechanism (18). The disconnection mechanism (18) consists of at least one contact spring (180), which is by a layer (172) of low temperature solder connectable to the corresponding varistor's (17) contact panel (171', 171''). A sufficient increase in temperature causes the solder to be released towards the corresponding indication window (13) on the front side (12) of the chassis (1).</p> |
