METHOD AND DEVICE FOR SPARK PLASMA SINTERING

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of spark plasma sintering by which overheat at the tip part of punches can be suppressed even when heating at a high temperature is carried out for a long period of time in the spark plasma sintering and a uniform sintered compact free from dispersion in properties can be obtained, and to provide a device for spark plasma sintering. SOLUTION: In the spark plasma sintering method comprising feeding a powdery raw material into a forming die, then compressing the powder with the punches and supplying a pulse current through the punches to obtain the sintered compact, the forming die composed of a raw material charging part and an outer frame part provided at the outside of the raw material charging part and the punches each having a tip part inserted into the raw material charging part of the forming die and a base part which has a cross-sectional area larger than that of the tip part and is inserted into the end part of the outer frame part of the forming die are used to compress the powdery raw material and supply the current. Thereby, concentration of the current to the tip part of each punch is avoided and the uniform sintered compact can be obtained.
