PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a garbage treatment device capable of grinding masses of a garbage residue in a drying vessel, conveying the ground garbage residue to a recovery member and preventing any malodor due to stagnation of such a garbage residue, or the like, from being generated. SOLUTION: This garbage treatment device has within it, a drying vessel 2b provided with: agitation blades 55 both of which are placed within the drying vessel 2b and one of which has a rodlike shape and the other of which has such a shape that a flat plate 55c is joined to such a rod and also the direction of rotation of which is alternately changed from the clockwise or counterclockwise direction to the counterclockwise or clockwise direction every time the rotational speed reaches a specified value; and a sliding member 43 which has an acute-angled-angular shape and is placed in a discharge section 2d of the drying vessel 2b so that a garbage residue is discharged from the drying vessel 2b to a freely attachable and detachable recovery vessel 41.
