摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the side face contrast ratio, the side face color reproducibility and the side face image quality of a liquid crystal display device. SOLUTION: The device has a first substrate having an external side face and an internal side face, a second substrate which is opposite to the first substrate and has an external side face and an internal side face, pixel electrodes which are formed on one of the internal side faces of the first and second substrates, common electrodes which are formed on one of the internal side faces of the first and the second substrates and liquid crystals injected between the first and the second substrates. The first graduation voltage applied between the pixel electrodes and the common electrodes has a voltage value within the range in which normalized contrast ratio becomes equal to or greater than 0.8 at all field of vision angles while the normalization is made by setting the contrast ratio as a unit when 0 V is applied as the first gradation voltage.
