PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely grasp information about services mounted on the opposite appliance in advance in performing communication based on a prescribed medium protocol. SOLUTION: A service detecting method is provided with a transmission process for transmitting all the communication request for predefined services to the opposite appliance based on the prescribed medical protocol and with a detection process for detecting the services mounted on the opposite appliance on the basis of response of the opposite appliance with respect to the communication request transmitted in the transmission process. Thus, it is possible to obtain needed information about the services mounted on the opposite appliance even without previously having the specification sheet, etc., of the opposite appliance.
