PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a system for recording and reproducing information, which permits the formation of a large capacity of ring buffer area without increasing the capacity of a buffer for recording and reproducing. SOLUTION: The ring buffer area is divided into a plurality of ring areas. Each of the divided ring areas is successively made to be the object of recording or reproduction, at least alternately from one end to the other end in the ring buffer area, and further from the other end to one end.
