PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce operator's burden by automating update operation and to prevent the generation of inconvenience for a user by executing the update operation within a time zone convenient for a user and not practically used by the user. SOLUTION: A printing processor 1 connected to a network 11 and having an energy saving shift function is provided with a communication control part 2 for communicating with a software distribution server 21 connected to the network 11 when there is no data to be printed and an energy saving state is set up and automatically acquiring software allowed to be updated when the software is stored in the server 21 and a printing control part 4 for executing software updating operation after acquiring the software and then restoring the original energy saving state again.
