<p>A servo motion control system includes a primary motor 201 and a secondary motor 202 which are used to provide motion control in a transport drive system 200. The motors 201, 202 receive different PWM control signals ( figure 4 ) to obtain the desired performance from the drive system 200. During acceleration or constant speed moves, both motors 201, 202 may work in tandem. During deceleration, the primary motor 201 may produce no torque while the secondary motor 202 is reversed to provide active braking and ensure that a drive train 209, 205, 207 remains loaded to eliminate backlash. During a driver 62 hold phase, the primary motor 201 and secondary motor 202 may act against each other to control positioning. Alternatively, deceleration and hold positioning may be controlled by offsetting PWM drive signals. The servo motion control system may be the paper transport system of a printing device.</p> |
