PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stop controlling method at an inexpensive cost by which step deviation and vibration at stoppage of a stepping motor are suppressed. SOLUTION: In stop control of the stepping motor, excitation of a specific excitation phase corresponding to a stop position is retained from starting of the stop control until stop of motor rotation, and an exciting current of the specific excitation phase is made variable from a specified value, as required, after the starting of the stop control. Moreover, a rotor is stepped out retaining an excited state after stop of the motor, then the rotor is rotated 2π×n (n is a natural number) in electrical angle to the excitation phase in which step-out is started, and an excited current value is made variable even in such a step-out state.
