An asymmetric communication method between plural devices using a single signal line is provided to check and monitor the abnormality of mechanism rapidly and exactly by implementing a single signal line for the communication lines between plural operation boards and plural devices. Receiving n-bit control data, created at a specific operation board, through a microprocessor, an operation board-side communication unit checks the voltage level of a signal line connected to a device-side communication unit and judges whether the signal line is normal(S1,S2). If the signal line is normal, the operation board-side communication unit synchronizes clock signals with the device-side communication unit through start data(S3). Then the operation board-side communication unit transmits the received n-bit control data to the device-side communication unit(S4). If all the data are transmitted, the operation board-side communication unit transmits mode change data to the device-side communication unit(S5-S7). Receiving all the n-bit control data and the mode change data, the device-side communication unit changes over from Rx mode to Tx mode after delivering the n-bit control data to an associated device(S8). The device-side communication unit receives m-bit response data from the associated device and transmits the received response data to the operation board-side communication unit(S9,S10). The operation board-side communication unit delivers the response data to the specific board through the microprocessor(S11,S12).
