PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem of a battery being noticeably consumed because the operating time of communication terminals is long. SOLUTION: When collecting data on a meter to be connected to the communication terminals 5, 6 and 7 by a center terminal, the center terminal, an exchange 1, a public base station 3 and a repeating base station 4 or the center terminal, the exchange 1 and the repeating base station connected directly to the exchange are connected through a public line. An interface for the public base station of the repeating base station is connected by radio, ISDN or DSL. The repeating base station and the communication terminals are connected by single radio, using an inter-slave unit direct call mode or a self-management mode, and communication between the repeating base station and one of the communication terminals is fetched simultaneously by the other communication terminals. Furthermore, by adding information a time, when the communication terminal comes into a waiting state to the communication contents, all the communication terminals under the repeating base station come into the waiting state in a period designated by the added time information, thereby power consumption by the communication terminals is reduced. |
