LIGAMENT REPRODUCTION APPARATUS AND METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved apparatus for fixing and/or locking a transplant ligament in bone boreholes and an improved method for reproducing a ligament. SOLUTION: A transplant ligament consisting of a bone block and a ligament attached to the bone block is locked into bone boreholes by the following steps: (1) forming a first bone borehole in a bone and a second bone borehole in the bone which extends across the first bone borehole; (2) fixing the transplant ligament in the first bone borehole and fixing a cross pin in the second bone borehole. In this case, the bone block is fixed in the first bone borehole on the first side of the cross pin and the ligament is fixed in the first bone borehole in such a way as to pass through the cross pin to the other side of the cross pin, to thereby apply tension to the end of the ligament opposite from the bone block to stop the bone block from moving through the cross pin by engagement of the cross pin with the bone block.
