PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multi-channel power amplifier which is small and light in weight by preventing a power supply section from overloading so as to effectively utilize the power supply capacity. SOLUTION: A limiter to vary the amplitude limit is provided at a pre-stage of a power amplifier circuit of each channel and at least either an input signal and an output signal of the power amplifier circuit of each channel is measured and output power of all the channels is calculated. When the calculated power exceeds the power supply capacity of the amplifier, the limiter limits the amplitude of the input signal of each channel to reduce the output power of the power amplifier circuit. Furthermore, a temperature rise predicted value of the power supply section or an actual temperature measured value may be used for a starting condition of each limiter. |
