Provided are a method and system for transmitting management information. A main control unit allocates VLAN channel resources to various non-main control units linked to the main control unit, and sends allocated VLAN channel resource information to the corresponding non-main control unit; each of the non-main control units establishes a virtual network port according to the VLAN channel resource information, and the virtual network port is configured to send and/or receive management information transmitted by a VLAN channel; the main control unit notifies a two-layer exchange unit to create the VLAN channel; the two-layer exchange unit creates the VLAN channel, and adds a physical port of a unit corresponding to the VLAN channel into the VLAN channel in the manner of a tag; and the management information is transmitted via the VLAN channel. Special hardware or a newly-created physical channel are not needed, and the management information about the whole network can be transmitted only by a VLAN-based forwarding in a two-layer network, thereby simplifying the configuration flow, reducing the design costs and hardware costs, and providing a simple method for constructing a data communication network (DCN) by means of a plurality of systems. |
