PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a side body structure for a railway vehicle, reduced in weight, while preventing reduction in aesthetic appearance of a side outer plate by buckling and a twist.SOLUTION: A side body structure 1 for a railway vehicle comprises a side outer plate 2 having an end rail 20, a pier panel 22 and a wainscot panel 21 including a curved part 210, a pair of side columns 60 arranged between two window openings 4 and a horizontal bone 5 extending in the vehicle longitudinal direction. The respective side columns 60 comprise a head part, a web part, first and second flange parts joined to the side outer plate in the curved part 210 of the pier panel 22 and the wainscot panel 21, and comprise a head part, a web part and a first flange part joined to the side outer plate in the wainscot panel except for the end rail and the curved part, and the first flange parts of the pair of side columns are mutually oppositely arranged.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2 |
