A device for winding a flexible pipe comprises a drum 10 supporting a flexible pipe 9, a fixed support 11 on which the drum is rotatably mounted, an hydraulic motor 14 coupled to the drum, an hydraulic receiver e.g. a double acting jack for a grab or bucket, fed by the pipe and movable with respect to the support 11, a twoway flow selector 19 between a fluid source 16 and the motor 14, the movement of the selector 19 being dependent on the direction of movement of the receiver relative to the support 11, a first conduit 18 delivering fluid during winding of the pipe, a first calibrated valve 22 in the conduit 18, a second conduit 21 delivering fluid during unwinding of the pipe, and a second valve 23 calibrated at a pressure less than the valve 22 in said conduit 21, the two conduits having a common point 30 located downstream of the valve 22 and upstream of the valve 23. During winding of the pipe, a contact 26 of an electromagnetic circuit is closed and the selector 19 connects the fluid source 16 to the conduit 18, the valve 22 being set to provide a torque on the motor 14 which corresponds to a tangential force at least equal to the weight of the pipe 9. Thus the pipe is wound under constant tension, excess fluid being returned to the source 16 via the valve 23. When the pipe is unwound, the contact 26 is broken and the selector 19 connects the motor 14 to the source 16 via the conduit 29, 21. In this case, the motor 14 is driven by the rotation of the drum 10 due to the pull of the pipe 9 and fluid is fed through the motor, the calibrated valves maintaining the correct pressure of fluid to tension the pipe 9.</p> |
