<p>1298957 Supporting cladding panels BPB INDUSTRIES Ltd 17 Dec 1970 [17 Dec 1969] 61603/69 Heading E1W A furring element for supporting plasterboard panels on or in ceilings or walls comprises a 24-26, s.w.g. hot dipped galvanized mild steel elongate strip 44 with longitudinal corrugations 47. A web 43 extends along a longitudinal strip edge at an angle of 90‹ to 95‹ to the general plane of the strip and a flange 42 extends at an angle of substantially 90‹ to the web directed oppositely to the strip. The flange 42 may have punched out fixing holes at a spacing of 25mm or 50mm by which the element is fixed to battens or studs at 400, 450 or 600mm spacings arranged horizontally or vertically. One or two superposed layers of plaster board panels are fixed to the strip 44 by self drilling and tapping screws which are prevented from slipping by the corrugations 47 and mineral wool may be placed behind the panels.</p> |
