In order to obtain during the machining of work-pieces by means of a laser beam a maximum absorption of the laser radiation into the work-piece with a minimum pertubation by using stochastic processes such as the optical back coupling and the plasmatic and melting dynamics, the laser intensity (IL) is maintained within the range IC <= IL < ID by the fact that, when predetermined threshold values are over-exceeded or under-exceeded, signals are generated which are used for the control, respectively the adjustement of the laser intensity (IL). Thereby, the laser intensity in the band width is controlled by the predetermined limit values IC and ID while continuously detecting and taking into consideration the stochastic processes within the machining zone of the work-piece by a corresponding modulation of the laser radiation. The laser intensity is modulated with a pulse form which is temporarily constant and a pulse interval which is temporarily constant, while the peak intensity of the laser radiation and the modulation time constants are adapted to the process frequences within the machining zone of the work-piece.
|
