PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a line use rate by comparing a communication rate at the time of transmitting data from a self-device to an opposite device with a communication rate when a polling request is given to the opposite device and the opposite device polling-receives data from the self-device and selecting the superior rate. SOLUTION: A transmission-side facsimile equipment reads, encodes and compresses a transmission original by a scanner 4, accumulates it in a picture information accumulation part 10 and calls the opposite device. When the polling request is indicated at that time, a system control part 1 operates and compares the communication rate when data is transmitted from the self-device to the opposite device with the communication rate when the polling request is given to the opposite device and the opposite device polling-receives data from the self-device based on the rate parameters of the self-device and the opposite device, which are stored in the parameter memory 3, and on transmission picture information quantity accumulated in a picture information accumulation part 10. Then, the superior rate is selected and communication is executed. Thus, the line use rate as a whole can be reduced. |
