摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a new phase transition optical recording medium to realize a non-initialization type phase transition optical recording medium on which overwrite recording is enabled immediately after manufacture without necessitating initial crystallization of a recording film. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing the non-initialization type phase transition optical recording medium 1 is the one for manufacturing the non-initialization type phase transition optical recording medium 1 provided with the phase transition optical recording film 5 whose phase is reversibly changed between crystalline and amorphous states by irradiating light beam and the phase transition optical recording film 5 is formed by a vacuum sputtering method under sputtered gas pressure of 5×10<-2> Torr or more. In this way, speed of atoms or molecules of raw materials of the recording film to collide with a substrate surface is reduced by increasing the sputtered gas pressure. Thus, a rapid solidification degree of the raw materials of the recording film is lowered and an amorphous state with proper stability is shown by the phase transition recording film 5 to be manufactured. Therefore, non- initialization type phase transition optical recording medium on which the overwrite recording is enabled immediately after the manufacture is manufactured without necessitating the initial crystallization.
