NOVEL RETROELEMENTS ZAM AND IDEMFIX, AND THEIR INTEGRASE

The invention concerns the retroelements ZAM and Idemfix identified in Drosophila melanogaster and the integrase of said retroelements capable of producing the insertion of a nucleotide sequence into a genome specific site comprising at least a sequence having 80 % homology with the sequence 5'-CGCGC-3' and with a poly(TA) sequence respectively. The retroelements ZAM and Idemfix have been sequenced in their entirety. The invention also concerns a method for inserting a heterologous sequence in a specific site of a DNA molecule and integration vectors. The invention is more particularly applicable in the fields of transgenesis and gene therapy.
