PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent press damage due to the heat generation of a ball screw by detecting an oil quantity for cooling/lubrication and stopping a press when an oil quantity is turned to a fixed quantity or less in the hydraulic press. SOLUTION: The press has a ball screw 7 to switch a hydraulic control valve for a ram cylinder 2 and a lubricator 10 to supply an oil 22 for cooling/ lubrication to the ball screw 7, a box 10B of the lubricator 10 is mounted so as to move up/down corresponding to an oil quantity, an oil quantity detection part 13 to detect the oil quantity is arranged, when the box 10B is abutted to the oil quantity detection part 13 as an oil quantity is turned to a fixed quantity or less, the press is stopped.
