PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To measure an SN ratio withoqt accumulating and recording a radiation image by using a phosphor sheet for inspecting an SN ratio having a phosphor layer incorporating fluorescent material emitting stimulated luminescence by the irradiation of stimulating light. SOLUTION: Not the ordinary phosphor sheet P but what is called an anti- stokes type phosphor sheet Pv having the phosphor layer incorporating the material (anti-stokes material) emitting the stimulated luminescence by the incidence of the stimulating light L even when the radiation is not accumulated and recorded (exposed) is used as the phosphor sheet for inspecting the SN ratio in order to measure the SN ratio. Thus, the SN ratio is measured without radiation exposure, and measurement of the SN ratio depending only on the image reading machine without being influenced by a radiation source or the phosphor sheet Pv is performed. As the utilizable anti-stokes material, known material is utilized in accordance with the wavelength of the stimulating light of the image reading machine and the wavelength of the stimulated luminescence from the ordinary phosphor sheet P.
