The aerial includes a quarter wave length of coaxial wire to provide signal coupling. The transmitting and receiving system for a mobile telephone includes a screened metal box (1) and an aerial support (2) mounted on the box by one end. The aerial (6) is mounted on the second end of the aerial support. The aerial support has a physical length which is electrically equal to a quarter wavelength of the signal transmitted by the aerial. The support may also be provided with reactive components in order to assist in providing the quarter wavelength characteristic. The reactive components may be localized, so that the quarter wavelength characteristic can be provided in two frequency bands. The aerial support lies parallel to the screened box of the telephone, and is on the side opposite to the loudspeaker. It may be formed from a coaxial cable.
|
